Our summer wine and cheese tasting returns, hosted by Helen from Paxton & Whitfield and Jessica Scarratt from Vergelegen Estate, now exclusively represented in the UK on-trade by Ellis Wines. Together, they will guide you through each pairing, revealing the origins, nuances and character behind each bite and glass.

The experience centres around a handpicked selection of British cheeses from Paxton & Whitfield, cheesemongers since 1742 and holders of a Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria. Their cheeses reflect centuries of careful craft, with something to suit both sweet and savoury palates.

Each cheese will be paired with wines from the historic Vergelegen Estate in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Founded in 1700, the estate is celebrated not only for its award-winning wines but also for its commitment to conservation and organic vineyard practices. The result is a collection that captures both the richness of the landscape and the care behind each vintage.

Ellis Wines, who bring the pairings together, have been part of the British wine trade for over 200 years. Still family-run, their roots lie in London, but their outlook is firmly international, always led by curiosity and quality.

Throughout the evening, Jessica and Helen will share insights, from heritage and terroir to tasting notes and seasonal combinations, making this a relaxed guided evening of discovery.
