Supporting & nurturing
young talent
ROSL supports young musicians overseas through various programmes, including our New Zealand Scholarships for young musicians, and our work with the National Youth Orchestra of Kenya. In New Zealand we select exceptional young musicians to visit the UK for a study tour, learning with the finest UK based professors, giving and attending concerts, and attending summer schools. Many former recipients have progressed to win prizes in the main Annual Music Competition.
Since 2022 we have supported the National Youth Orchestra of Kenya through online workshops and a one-week residential course in Nairobi, facilitated by experienced ROSL prizewinning musicians. The youth orchestra supports the ambitions of the young musicians towards the next step in their musical and educational careers. By engaging with young people and providing them with the tools and resources they need to express themselves musically, we hope to inspire the next generation of great musicians.
