HRH Princess Alexandra is standing down as Vice-Patron of the Royal Over-Seas League after 25 years of dedicated service. We are sincerely grateful for her long-standing commitment and engagement.

Princess Alexandra’s association with ROSL began in the 1950s and 1960s, becoming Vice-Patron in 1980. She has been a steadfast supporter of the organisation, particularly our work supporting young musicians from across the world. The Princess has hosted numerous receptions for ROSL at various Royal Palaces and enjoyed attending the finals of our Annual Music Competition, most recently in 2022.

Following the refurbishment of our concert hall in 2006, it was renamed the Princess Alexandra Hall in her honour. The Princess last visited Over-Seas House in November 2021 as guest of honour at a concert and dinner.

We are delighted to announce that Vice-Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence GCVO CB has graciously accepted the position of Vice-Patron, an honour for the Royal Over-Seas League. Sir Timothy’s distinguished career and commitment to public service are exemplary.

After graduating with a BSc in Geography from University College, Durham, he embarked on a 37-year naval career, including four warship commands and senior roles at the Ministry of Defence and concluded his naval service as chief executive of the organisation responsible for the MOD’s estate and infrastructure worldwide. Since retiring from the Navy in 2010, Sir Timothy has held a number of roles in heritage, regeneration and major projects.

Sir Timothy has attended events at the Royal Over-Seas League over the last number of years and we look forward to his continued support and engagement.
