Riverley Exhibition Griffin Arts Festival

Artist-in-Residence Nisha Duggal presents her collaborative work with Year 5 pupils at Riverley Primary School in the Main Hall as part of The Griffin Arts Festival 2021. This is the collective effort of the past few months of workshop programming funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. All the pupils’ family and friends were invited to view the exhibition with includes early footage from a film commission to be screened at ROSL Clubhouse during Open London on 4-5 September.

Colour is used symbolically on these flags to represent nature, nationhood, industry and beyond. Amongst the designs influenced by Nisha’s experiences working with pupils of Riverley is an adapted Union Jack flag from the open source flagforlondon.uk project, combining the 25 colours of all the countries’ flags made into one. Its message is simple, “Wherever you, your relatives, or your friends came from, your or their flag is in there.” This collection celebrates the here and now, set within this historically resonant courtyard.
